Ukraine Beyond the War Student Presentations

This one-hour event will feature three 20-minute presentations (including 5-minute Q&A session) on Ukrainian cultural scholarship. The purpose of the event is to develop a broader understanding of Ukrainian culture beyond the war within the Dartmouth community. The event will examine three generations of Ukrainian national movements: the 1920s, 1960s, and from the Maidan 2014 to the present. Here is a list of presentation titles and speakers:

  • Cinematography of the Ukrainian "National Renaissance" of the 1920s as a Later Object of Soviet Censorship. Presented by Polly Chesnokova
  • Ukrainian Writers of the 1960s: Generational Paradigm and Influence on the Later Literary Underground. Presented by Oleksandr Zavalov
  • The Maidan Generation and the Revolution of Dignity Through the Lens of Translation in the Western Media. Presented by Eric Hryniewicz
