Humanities Is a Team Sport
If you think the humanities are a solo practice, think again. The future will be built on teams, partnerships, and coalitions. These models will sustain research, teaching, and advocacy across higher education.
Paula M. Krebs is the Executive Director of the Modern Language Association, the largest scholarly organization in the humanities, with almost 20,000 members from more than 100 countries. Her role includes national advocacy work for the humanities and humanities education. She just finished two terms as president of the National Humanities Alliance, a nationwide coalition advocating for the humanities on campuses, in communities, and on Capitol Hill. She has administered grants on creating pathways for humanities students from recruitment through career readiness, increasing diversity in doctoral programs in English, preparing doctoral students to teach at access-oriented institutions, and other aspects of language and literature education and research.
